Shawsheen Valley Technical High School

Shawsheen Valley Technical High School provides rich and varied opportunities for students to demonstrate growth and achievement by delivering the highest level of academic and vocational/technical education. The Shawsheen experience leaves students with an understanding that education is a lifelong, continuous process with many paths to a successful and fulfilling adult life.

Off-site

Procurement of laptops and cloning them with the correct system image which includes the configuration provided by the school.

Onsite:-

• Complete other onboarding tasks such as naming the devices, other system settings, and asset tagging the devices to make the laptop ready to use.
• Place the laptops on the docking stations according to school’s requirement.

The challenge here was to make sure all the laptops should arrive at the school with the system image already cloned to the devices on the specified day when the support engineer is going to arrive to complete the on-site checklist. This involves working with the partner vendor to complete the cloning on time and shipping out the devices on time to the school.

The next task was to make sure the support engineer completes all the tasks required by the school as there is one day to get the on-site work done keeping in mind the issues which may show-up on the devices.

System Image of the correct configuration and settings was provided by the school to be deployed for other 22 laptops. We completed the cloning of the system images of the other laptops and delivered the laptops to the school.

One of the Support Engineers was sent on-site to work on the following tasks:-

• Check clone status which means all the user settings, softwares, drivers, and configurationis same as the original system image provided by the school.
• Name the devices, connect the devices to the internet, create user accounts, asset tag the devices.
• Place the laptops on the docking stationsin the specific room mentioned by them.

The Support Engineer checked with the IT incharge and the Director of Educational Technology from the school to make sure all the devices are setup with the correct configuration as well as placed on the docking stations.

The school provided the system image and rest everything was completed by the Procurement and IT Service team in getting the laptops, setting them up and placing them at the correct location as requested by the school.

We shipped out the correct system image cloned to the devices and the support engineer collaborating with the IT Engineer on-site from the school and making sure everything is matched with the school requirements.

This project helped the school in procuring the devices which were needed by them and on-time for the students to use and much effort was also not needed as everything was taken care-of.
