Project Overview
Perspective Charter School
Perspective Charter school’s curriculum is designed for the students to deeply engage with their coursework and where teachers create a space of collaboration and support. The objective is for the students to think critically and they are inquisitive about their learning, and are intentional in seeking wisdom from their teachers and peers for complete understanding of a topic.
The Challenge
The objective here was to improve network connectivity using the E-Rate Opportunity which is offered to Charter Schools and replace the current access points with new ones and work with the Managed Service Provider of the school to make sure the task is executed successfully.
The task here was to learn about the client site and see how the project can be implemented and to give them the correct access points so that they can have improved network speed and the school can utilize the E-Rate opportunity well.
Our Solution
We had an initial walkthrough for the school where we checked all the locations in the school including the ones which had access points. Verification of the compatibility of the new access points was done so that they are compatible with the existing network controller.
A heat map was created based on the floor plan provided by the school to better plan out in replacing the current existing access points with the new ones. Also we had to add extra access points as well for the one of the campuses so we needed to configure the port correctly so that the new Access Points are connected successfully.
Testing of all the ports was done and access points were mounted and connected to the ports. Monitoring policies were applied to access points to manage them as required by the Managed Service Provider. Documentation of the new and old access points was done and sent over to the school for their records.
The Results
The accomplishment here is to have completed the project on-time working hand in with the school and their IT team and making sure the network wasn’t affected.
The project was carried out just before the Christmas/Winter break for the school when there are not many things lined up for the school and to not affect the school’s everyday functioning. Working hand in hand with the IT Service Provider and making sure they are equipped with all the information needed to maintain and troubleshoot the network and access points in the future.
The school had an improved network connectivity with the latest access points which could be managed efficiently by the school’s IT Service Provider.
